(LONDON, Ontario) – Letters From Hawthorne, a two-piece collective comprised of Jade Bennett and Jeff Harloff, are launching the Australia Bushfire Relief Benefit Concert. The initiative is to assist in the restoration of Australian ecosystem that has been compromised by the massive bushfires that are taking place.
The concept for the fundraiser was inspired by an interaction Jade had with one of her Australian friends who, at the time, was back home, visiting family.
“He was home visiting, sending me pics and updates as he was watching his country burn”, Jade commented. “He asked if there was a way to raise money somehow, and I said we can try to hold a benefit concert to help.”
London’s music community have banded together for the cause and The lineup for the event involves a wide range of regionally acclaimed talent, including: Ben Heffernan, Sarina Haggarty, Michael Trudgen, Brent Jones, Celtae Lynne & Kory Adcock, Charrlon Mane, Empress Rising, Mockingbird Junction, Patrick James Clark, Rhiannon Simpson and Letters From Hawthorne.
The event is receiving incredible support from local businesses, as well as response from attendees and those driven by the cause.
When asked about the fundraiser’s public reception, Jade commented, “We’re absolutely amazed by how our community has come together to support this idea. It shows how people care about the rest of the world and that together we can make a change.”
The fundraiser will take place on Australia Day, Sunday, January 26th, 2020, from 5:00pm – 11:00pm at the Palasad Socialbowl.
There is a $10 suggested donation for admission, or pay what you can. The event will include silent auctions, raffles and prizes. Some of the items up for grabs are: local music merchandise, gift certificates and service vouchers. All proceeds will be split equally and donated to the National Bushfire Disaster Appeal and the South Australia Veterinary Emergency Management.
