With that frigid winter weather hitting the region, it’s only fitting that thoughts, efforts and funding are being directed to homeless youth and the less fortunate youth in our community.
One major initiative to assist with the cause is a benefit concert taking place at Eastside Bar & Grill March 10 from to 2 pm – 6 pm. The Sunday Jam For YOU will be raising funds for Youth Opportunities Unlimited’s Emergency Youth Shelter.
The family-friendly all-ages event will include plenty of live music, silent auctions and more, mentions one of its organizers.
Peter DeGelder, bassist of The Issues With Kimberley, wanted to do something to promote a good, local cause. “My sister had worked with YOU and she’s been a social worker all her life. She pointed out that organization as just an awesomely effective organization.”
“Eastside owner George Karigan was on board from the start, happy to open up his doors for such a community event,” DeGelder said.
“I know a guy from 98.1 Classic Rock, and they got right behind it as well for publicity and radio ads. It’s all coming together to be a really fun event. We’re going to have four bands, auctions, raffles, door prizes, maybe a 50/50. It’s going to be a fun, family atmosphere in the best sounding – in my opinion – venue in the area.”
Along with The Issues With Kimberley, bands slated to appear include The Band Landry, Pacanomad, and Juice.
